The inflatable pessary was designed for patients with severe prolapse of the vagina
and/or the uterus of whom the pelvic floor is too weak to support ring pessaries or for patients who cannot handle the standard models.
The patient herself or if necessary a nurse can insert the pessary like a tampon.
The effect is based on the improvement of the detrusor function of the bladder by supporting the pelvic floor
and applying light pressure on the urethra. The pessary consists of:
- the main part,
- a valve,
- a balloon for inflating the main part.
Because the pessary remains placed for less than 24 hours there is no risk of necrosis or infections.
